NDIS SOCIAL WORK
Practical support for relationships, safety and everyday life.
Busy Kin provides individual social work support for NDIS participants aged 18 years and over who are self-managed or plan-managed. My work focuses on building skills, confidence and understanding in areas that can make everyday life and relationships a little easier to navigate — without treating the person as a problem that needs fixing. Sessions are collaborative, practical and tailored to the individual. We might talk. We might practise. We might make a plan, develop scripts, use visual resources or work through a real-life situation together. Because sometimes “just communicate your needs” is excellent advice right up until someone asks, “Okay... but what do I actually say?”
Self-Managed
If you self-manage your NDIS plan, you have the flexibility to choose Busy Kin for your social work support. You pay for sessions directly and then claim the reimbursement through the NDIS portal. This allows for a direct, responsive relationship with your therapist.
Funding Options
Plan-Managed
For participants with a Plan Manager, Busy Kin invoices your provider directly. This setup removes the administrative burden from you, ensuring your social work services are managed seamlessly within your allocated budget categories like 'Capacity Building'.
Areas I work in
I partner with NDIS participants to build meaningful independence and safety. My work is practical, trauma-informed, and focused on helping you thrive in your own community and home.
●
Protective behaviours & personal safety
Protective behaviours & personal safety: Developing tailored strategies to identify risks, establish boundaries, and implement safety planning for everyday environments. This includes learning to recognise early warning signs, understanding body autonomy, and creating actionable plans for feeling safe.
●
Social relationships
Social relationships: Supporting participants to build meaningful connections, navigate social nuances, and improve communication within family and community circles. We focus on friendship skills, navigating conflict, understanding social expectations, and building the confidence to engage with others.
●
Skill development for everyday life
Skill development for everyday life: Practical coaching in decision-making, self-regulation, and routine management to foster greater independence and autonomy. We work on the 'how-to' of daily tasks, from managing overwhelming schedules to developing the scripts needed for self-advocacy in public settings.
Practice Methodology
01
Session Framework
What sessions look like: My approach is collaborative, neuro-affirming, and practical. We focus on who you are, rather than what needs to be 'fixed.' We identify the barriers affecting your daily life and develop concrete, actionable steps to navigate them. Sessions might involve discussing complex situations, role-playing social interactions, creating visual schedules, or drafting scripts for difficult conversations. We work at your pace to build genuine confidence in real-world scenarios, ensuring that every hour spent together translates into meaningful change outside of our sessions.
02
Professional Scope
My scope of practice: I am a Qualified Social Worker specializing in adult NDIS support, rural mental health, and family systems. My practice is grounded in the AASW Code of Ethics and focuses on capacity building and improved daily living. I work with individuals navigating life transitions, complex interpersonal dynamics, and social barriers. I provide professional intervention for safety planning, social skill development, and self-regulation, ensuring all support is evidence-based and aligned with your NDIS goals for autonomy and community participation.
03
Integrated Support
By merging clinical expertise with everyday practicalities, we bridge the gap between abstract goals and tangible results. Our work ensures that your NDIS funding translates into functional independence and improved social well-being.

Client Groups Currently Supported by Busy Kin
I offer specialized social work services for adult NDIS participants who are either plan-managed or self-managed. My practice centers on assisting those dealing with major life changes, the challenges of rural living, and intricate family care needs. I partner with individuals seeking functional, neuro-affirming guidance that honors their choice and control while equipping them with the tools to handle their social spheres and personal safety with confidence.
Information for Referrers and Coordinators
I am committed to a team-based approach, working hand-in-hand with support coordinators to offer comprehensive advocacy and seamless support. My services include specialized social work intervention and capacity building aimed at sustainable family wellness and navigating complex systems. I ensure that all involved parties are kept in the loop and that the goals of the participant remain the heartbeat of our shared strategy.
Clinical Referral Pathway for NDIS Participants
Professional referrers are invited to reach out via email to explore current openings and service alignment. Please verify that the participant has active funding allocated to 'Capacity Building' or 'Improved Daily Living' and that their funds are not NDIA-managed. I pride myself on providing timely feedback to all professional inquiries, typically responding within two business days to start the intake journey efficiently.
Key Information Needed for Intake Assessment
To assist with your referral, please provide the participant's full name, their plan management method, and the primary objectives they hope to achieve through social work. A summary of their existing support system and any vital safety factors is also helpful. Busy Kin is not: a crisis or emergency response service; a behaviour support provider and does not develop NDIS Behaviour Support Plans; a provider of specialist behaviour support or restrictive practices; an occupational therapy, psychology or speech pathology service; a support coordination or plan management service; a substitute for medical or psychiatric care; a 24-hour or after-hours support service. If something sits outside my professional scope, I'll be upfront about that. Where appropriate, I can work alongside other professionals or help identify a service better suited to the person's needs.
For Support Coordinators & Referrers
Not sure whether I'm the right fit for someone you're supporting? You're welcome to get in touch before making a referral. I am particularly interested in working collaboratively with participants whose NDIS goals relate to:
- Protective behaviours & personal safety
- Healthy relationships & social connection
- Communication & self-advocacy
- Emotional awareness & responding to distress
- Everyday capacity and skill development
- Identity, confidence & participation
Where a person's needs would be better supported by another discipline or a specialist service, I'll communicate this rather than trying to stretch social work beyond its appropriate scope.
